Passion:: Heart Smiling :)

I know its been awhile, but I only have one thing on my mind tonight, and I plan on expressing that. I love Girl Scouts. I am trying to think of comparisons in life so people understand my passion for this. It is not a silly little hobby that fills my evenings and weekends. It is not a "I dont want to grow up" fedish. It is a passion. A passion to help girls. Help girls emotionally, physically, spiritually, psychologically, etc. In all ways! So many people think its just cookies... its not. Well, that is a huge part, but there are 12 months in the year, and there are millions of events nation wide bettering the girls in every neighborhood.
When I go to meetings, whether it be for leaders only or meetings with the girls, I feel empowered, stronger, I feel.... Like me!

When I got home tonight, I felt like I had a sense in the world; to get some emails out there about events, to get my planner out and mark some dates... I just felt so much better about things.
I could go on and on about Girl Scouts, including the founder, the history, the meaning... I used to be able to name the CEO of this council and nationwide CEO (they recently hired two new people). Girl Scouts is an organization for girls (and men who want to help out). It is not a feminist movement (although some like to think it is). It is an organization that is empowered girls to be more than what they ever thought they could be. To give them the power to be what they want to be. To provide the proper resources to make their life and world a better place.

Did you know that Girl Scouts are huge sponsors for recycling and it is one of their major issues?
Did you know that an event for GS can be anything from songs, crafts, science, math, beauty, educational, social and/or travel? Its not just cookies people.
Did you know that many women who are world leaders were, OR still are Girl Scouts? (google that one!)
Did you know that Girl Scouts has been around for 100 years?
Did you know that GS has enabled girls all over the world to have a voice and be heard on issues that would otherwise still be silent?

I am not rubbing this in people's noses (although that would be fun) I am posting this because GS is my passion and I wish.hope people would understand that a little more before looking at me like I am too old to be doing this.

I "do" Girl Scouts because it makes me happy and that is all that should matter. I do it because GS made an impression on me growing up and I would like to provide the same for other girls all around the world. (at least in the central DM area)
