media vs real life

            ::Media::
I have no idea where this post will lead me, but I have been thinking a lot about media, and life.
I feel so bad for the younger generation and I worry about the younger generations. I am in Iowa, so it is not as bad, but it still has its effects.
The image that the media puts out there about EVERYTHING effects all ideas and expectations of anyone who sees or reads anything in the media. For example: Any TV show is going to put ideas into people's heads; the actresses are rarely over weight, the houses are rarely messy or show the rushed-no-time-to-clean houses, the clothes that are shown...
Let's focus on the clothes for a mini--second. When an actress, or model, or someone in the media view wears something, there are expectations being made all over the world about how we, ourselves are supposed to dress. One piece of clothing can go a long way. If we see leggings worn by someone then we might think, OH I could do that, but then we have to worry about our weight and how we look.... weight becomes a huge problem for girls and women all over the world. So many women think they have to be skinny to look good, to be fashionable, to fit into the "cool" clothes... but its not true!! Granted we should not be 500 lbs, but we don't have to be 50 lbs either! There is a mediocre!
That is the motto here... kinda. MEDIOCRE is okay!! Middle class is okay!! Shopping at the discounted stores is okay! Not having the latest fashions is okay too, you can make your own fashion by shopping thrift stores and making your own statement.
The expectations that the media is placing out there is high, unachievable and ridiculous. I wish I could make a louder statement, and I know there are people out there that are trying to change this image... and I really hope the end result is awarding.
I am in my early 20s, and I am still fighting with what is expected of me. I know that I cannot compare myself to people on TV or anyone in general, but it is almost impossible to NOT get ideas of what is expected of me. Mostly appearance. Is it okay to have a little flab? Is it okay if my outfit is less than $50? Is it okay to not get my hair cut/styled every month? Is it okay not to paint my nails every week?  The list goes on and on...
Like I said, I am in my 20s and I am fighting with this image thing... I feel bad for the girls in their teens that have all this information and images flooding in at them!!
I am not sure where I am going in this post. My thoughts are everywhere with the real life VS media life.
Hope this is not too confusing.. if you share similar thoughts or are confused... comment or contact me... would love to chat about this more with anyone interested.

peace.
