I am ahead on homework (again) and I have a lot going through my head. So here we go. This is going to be scatterbrained and pointless, but Im sure somebody out there will read this. ha.
Well, I just spent like 20 minutes watching the world's faults. Such as homelessness. I came from a small town, where I did not see much of this, but my family suffered a lot and I was scared sometimes that we would end up homeless. I was sheltered and did not know about the dangers and sadnesses in the world, but I grew up on the lower end of middle class. Watching those videos, I wanted to reach out so badly. I felt for those people. I know that some people made decisions (drugs, alcohol) that put themselves on the curb, but there are other people that lost their jobs or were forced to the curb, NOT their fault.
There are rough times in everybody lives, but when there is a problem, such as poverty and homelessness in America, I feel that we, their neighbors should be HELPING them. Not walking past them. I am not saying that we should give them pennies and coins here and there. I am saying that those people that are making in this country making millions of dollars a year and are not helping the problems in this country. Our country is always first to help other countries when they need assistance, but why can't we take that time, energy and those resources to help our own people first? I am again not saying to give them the money. I am saying, provide jobs. Jobs might be minimum wage, but if we can also provide advice and assistance to encourage those people to SAVE their money, they can get an apartment. food everyday. clothes. Now, I know that this is not always possible, but the people that are given opportunities and they cant keep jobs (their fault) well, then they deserve that cardboard box. I am not saying that somebody needs to make a million a year. Enough money for an apartment. Food. Survival. This is still considered poverty, but at least they would be making a living for themselves.
I read an article the other day that a celebrity was selling his home. a 52 room mansion (with every possible entertainment inside the house) and I wanted to scream. He could have housed over a hundred people in that house. But he lived there alone. ALONE. REALLY!??!? THIS IS THE MOST PREPOSTEROUS THING I HAVE EVER READ. I was sickened. I understand that cost of living is more expensive in some areas, but NOT THAT DIFFERENT.
Again, giving homeless money is not going to solve anything, but providing cheap housing, saving money options, and education, and.... JOBS can help save this economy, and nation.
If you are even thinking about coming back at me with something ridiculous about further economy problems that prevent this, save it. I do not want to hear it. There is NO reason why somebody should be getting paid MILLIONS when others have NOTHING.
peace.
